The Human Genetics Awareness Association (HuGAA) is proud to announce the inaugural World Human Genetics Day (WHGD), to be held on 30 March 2026. This historic milestone marks the first time a dedicated global day has been established to celebrate human genetics, raise public awareness, and champion the inclusion of African populations in genomic research.
World Human Genetics Day will be observed annually on 30 March. The 2026 launch will take place as a hybrid event at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Banjul, The Gambia, with a parallel online programme accessible to participants worldwide.
The day will bring together scientists, clinicians, policymakers, educators, and members of the public for a programme spanning scientific talks, clinical perspectives, public engagement sessions, and community discussions, all grounded in the vision of a world where human genetics is understood, valued, and accessible to all.
